It would be beneficial if you have experiences in electrophysiological or optical methods. We are looking forward receiving your application.

PhD position in the field of cellular neurophysiology

The Department of Experimental Neurology (BioImaging group) welcomes applications for an open PhD position in the field of cellular neurophysiology.

The BMBF-funded project called 'Bernstein Focus: Neuronal Basis of Learning (BFNL)' focuses on functions of GABAergic and glutamatergic synapses during brain development and on synaptic plasticity and network activity in the neighborhood of ischemic insults. We are using state-of-the-art electrophysiological (patch-clamp) and optical (voltage imaging, confocal and/or 2-photon imaging) techniques.

Ideally, the candidate has a strong background in biology and a keen interest in biophysics. Previous experience with one of the above-mentioned techniques is preferable, but not mandatory.

The position is available for 3 years. Salary is according to the German scale for research staff personnel (TV-L E13 50%).
